LGBT SymposiumLast fall, the Hastings Center Report and the Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein medical center co-sponsored a symposium, building on the release of the LGBT Bioethics: Visibility, Disparities, and Dialogue, a groundbreaking special report, co-edited by Tia Powell and Mary Beth Foglia and published by the Hastings Center Report. Several key-players in bioethics and medical ethics joined the panel to discuss including Robert Espinoza, the Vice President of policy at the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute, the nation’s leading authority on the direct-care workforce. Focusing on policy advocacy, the symposium’s top minds discussed a variety of sociocultural issues, legal challenges, shifting perspective, and both ends of the aging spectrum of LGBT Ethics. Audience members include LGBT advocates, Medical ethics professionals, and psychiatrists invite further inspection on the workforce and prejudices.
